My name is Wessel Janse van Rensburg.
This is the home of my newsletter on the role of the state, business and society in a digital, post-globalised world.
My interests that I will explore here include platform and data power, digital regulation, information age industrial policy, and the role technology and culture plays in why states work — and fail.
As a trained lawyer, my first job was as an investigator for the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission. I have been a product manager for the Internet Portal, Lycos, a social media strategist, founder, media spokesperson, advisor to top corporate leaders, a journalist and a writer.
My consultancy business is RAAK.work.
